Adorn Sapphire Drop Earrings
These one-of-a-kind granulation earrings feature stunning pear-shaped sapphires (6x4mm), suspending a gold drop of fine recycled 18ct granulation and a scattering of tonal blue sapphires in various sizes between 2.5mm - 0.8mm. The statement sapphires are ethically sourced from Sri-Lanka and selected for their distinctive dreamy blue colour. Each gold drop is created from a single large gold granule, which is forged and rolled by hand - before being adorned with exquisite granulation detailing.
Total length 3cm
Sapphire, the birthstone of September, is most desired in its pure, rich blue colour but is present in almost every colour including pink, yellow and green. In the Middle Ages the gem was believed to protect those close to you from harm and also represented loyalty and trust. It is also the gem that married couples traditionally gift on their 45th wedding anniversary.
Hannah Bedford’s jewellery designs explore texture and form using the traditional process of granulation. Working in precious metals, Hannah creates a range of women’s jewellery, from intricate necklaces to bespoke engagement and wedding rings.
Collections are inspired by organic growth patterns in the natural world. Hannah uses granulation to create raised, textured surfaces that entwine each piece. Fine granulation en-captures precious stones and interlaces between surfaces, linking bangles and weaving across rings. The work is often led by these technical explorations, using them to play with scale, form and contrasting precious metals to create aesthetically beautiful forms.
