Stone Drawing Silver and Yellow Gold Link Bracelet
'Stone Drawing' refers to Emily’s creative starting point for this timeless design. Each link follows the contours of a sea-worn beach pebble, retaining its irregular form. It is quite literally a sculptural drawing of a stone found on Cornwall's beaches. Beautifully tactile with a characteristic tide tumbled finish, this design embodies the artful imperfection found in nature that is at the heart of Emily's creations.
This bracelet has been made in solid silver with one solid 9ct gold Stone Drawing link that is positioned just off centre. It is connected with a hand crafted, solid silver T-bar that has been finished with the same tumbled, sea-worn surface.
Emily Nixon's work is greatly shaped by living in West Cornwall. Beach finds are tools in the process of her making. "I love the fabric-like twists and folds of seaweed; the diversity in the contours of pebbles; the weathered character of flotsam I see washed up along the shore. This dichotomy of the precious and the organic – special stones encircled by sea-worn fragments of gold – characterises so much of my inspiration. At the heart of my work remains the sculpture and tapestry of my early fine art practice."
