Bronze Embellish Necklace

Inspired by the layers of carefully placed grass stems, twigs and other organic debris in the cocoon cases of the caddis insect. The burnished edges shimmer beautifully, reminiscent of antique beadwork sewn by hand, now fraying and shifting from decades of wear. Made in solid bronze, substantial without being heavy it makes a perfect everyday necklace. The warm tones of this bronze pendant are complimented by an 18 inch long 14ct gold fill chain and bolt ring clasp. Gold fill is a hard wearing alternative to gold plate or vermeil, using a much thicker, solid gold layer bonded onto a base metal. Pendant size 4cm x 1.5cm.

The Designer

From the buried treasures of Pompeii to jewels found in meteorites and asteroids falling to earth over millennia; Jade Mellor wants to evoke the feeling of uncovering gems that have practically become part of the landscape through the wearing of time, but originate from another world or civilisation. 

The techniques she continues to develop push this medium and her further research into natural history, ancient civilisation and passion for nature's jewels result in exciting colours and textures in processes inspired by fossilisation and mineral structures.
