Becca Macdonald
Becca Macdonald is a conceptual jewellery maker influenced by material experimentation. A common theme throughout her work is documenting the 'evidence of presence' and human gesture. Most notably, she paints with silver. A fleeting gesture or moment of movement - a sweep of silver straight from the paintbrush - is permanently preserved and transformed into a distinctive piece of wearable art.
Following a degree in Textile Design from Chelsea College of Arts, Becca was employed in London design studios and artist’s workshops. She assisted in the creation of immersive sculptural installations, furniture and bespoke artworks. An evening class in jewellery making equipped Becca with the skills to turn a passion into a practice and influenced a change in direction and scale.
"I create conceptual jewellery that speaks to those inspired by the expressive language of art. My ‘Brushstrokes’ collection captures the presence of a painter, the fluid marks, the textural strokes - even the shimmer of silver residue left behind from a paint pot. In our increasingly digital world, my pieces offer a tactile reminder of presence – each one a frozen moment of creative expression. Each piece tells the story of a maker – a trace of touch, process and personal gesture, made permanent in precious metal."
