Cara Tonkin
Cara Tonkin creates elegant, bold jewellery with a strong Art Deco influence. Her designs feature fluid interlocking shapes, repeated forms, and intricate patterns, resulting in pieces that are both tactile and playful. With a strong emphasis on refined detail, texture, and craftsmanship, her jewellery reflects a deep-rooted appreciation for artistry. The daughter of two artists, Cara grew up in the creative atmosphere of Brighton. After earning a First Class Honours degree in Jewellery Design from Central Saint Martins in London, she returned to her hometown to establish her studio, where each piece is handcrafted using carefully sourced materials.
Cara’s collections begin with visual inspiration drawn from myths, nature, art history, and architecture. She starts with rough sketches, then works directly with materials—experimenting with texture, form, connection, and movement. Her process focuses on construction and how each piece interacts with the body. Comfort and wearability are key, as she believes jewellery should come to life through the movement and presence of the wearer. Through repetition and scale, simple shapes are transformed into intricate, striking designs.
