Green Tourmaline Gea Duo Necklace
A delicate pendant inspired by natural formations and quiet strength. The Gea Duo Necklace is handcrafted in 9ct yellow gold and features a softly faceted gea shape paired with a round, millgrain-set light green tourmaline, on an 18 inch chain. A lightweight and sculptural piece that layers beautifully or shines on its own.
Tourmaline is one of the birthstones of October, and is the more durable of the two, its counterpart being opal. Tourmaline has been said to be a stone of reconciliation, a stone that fosters compassion and cool headedness, healing and friendship. It also creates a commitment towards the completion of one’s goals and is said to protect the wearer against dangers. It is also the gem that married couples traditionally gift on their 8th wedding anniversary.
The Designer
María Manola Toro Fernández is a Chilean jeweller whose work is influenced by volcanic landscapes and the rocky shapes of the Andes. After studying design at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and completing a one-year jewellery course at Walka Escuela, she taught herself the wax carving technique, experimenting with different geometric and organic shapes. Manola established her business in 2018, selling her creations for five years at Espacio Colaborativo Nalca in Santiago de Chile and is now located in London.
