Hand carved 9ct yellow gold whirlpool ring with an Ancient17 opal with 8 small white diamonds. The detailed swirls of gold are reminiscent of swirling waves or even the texture of wood. This fairytale ring sits flat along the finger and is comfortable to wear, with hidden engravings on the underside.

Opal, the birthstone of October, represents confidence, faith, and hope. People who have it as their birthstone have a certain magnetism, which helps them make friends very easily. Opals were considered among the most magical of gemstones. Because of their highly desirable play of colours and stunning natural attributes, the opal was highly valued and coveted, and used to be considered the stone of kings. It is also the stone given to celebrate 14 years of marriage.

The Designer

Georgina Hopkin is a London-based jewellery designer and maker whose work blends traditional fine jewellery techniques with contemporary design. Working from her studio in East London, Georgina creates intriguing jewellery through the use of material exploration  the use of unusual or irregular gemstones. At the heart of her jewellery brand lies a fascination with modern-day talismans—small, detailed treasures that feel both ancient and alive. Each piece is intentionally imperfect: molten, wobbly, and organic, as though unearthed from an ancient time.

Originally from a small town in Surrey, Georgina moved to London to study Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins, where she graduated with First Class Honours. Drawn to the city's creative energy, she found inspiration in its diversity, pace, and openness to experimentation—elements that continue to shape her work today.

Georgina has always had a flair for creativity, rooted in a love for hands-on creation and experimentation. Her creative journey has included work across a wide range of disciplines—from theatre set design to digital illustration—giving her a broad and interdisciplinary perspective that informs her jewellery practice. She was drawn to jewellery as it was the ideal meeting point between fashion design and product design, allowing her to create small-scale, three-dimensional objects with a strong connection to the human body.
