Inca Starzinsky

Inca Starzinsky is a London-based artist and designer. She graduated from Central St Martins with an honours degree in graphic design. In the last year of her BA, she spend most of her time screen printing in the printmaking department of Central St Martins, which after graduation led to a five-year position there as artist-in-residence.

Inca Starzinsky strives to find a fundamental balance between form, material and colour. Her work can best be described as contemporary objects derived from a concept and rationalised to give them purpose. Most projects are born from an experience, a memory or from the desire to capture a moment; attempting to turn them into physical realities for others to experience.

Her Float collection is about childhood memories, the sensation of floating before falling asleep, of having dreams and hopes. It’s about my young daughter questioning death and being upset that all the fun will end one day. It’s about not forgetting your dreams or your childhood, and continuing to find fun and enjoyment. Words made with hand drawn letters are merged into one cloud like shape.

Each piece is made by press forming brass into 2 halves to create a hollow form. The item is then hand painted by Inca which results in each piece being unique. The pins are solid silver.
