Gea Blue Sapphire Necklace
Handcrafted in 9ct yellow gold, the Gea necklace features an oval blue sapphire set within a sculptural, faceted pendant. Sapphire, the birthstone of September, is most desired in its pure, rich blue colour but is present in almost every colour including pink, yellow and green. In the Middle Ages the gem was believed to protect those close to you from harm and also represented loyalty and trust. It is also the gem that married couples traditionally gift on their 45th wedding anniversary.
The Designer
María Manola Toro Fernández is a Chilean jeweller whose work is influenced by volcanic landscapes and the rocky shapes of the Andes. After studying design at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and completing a one-year jewellery course at Walka Escuela, she taught herself the wax carving technique, experimenting with different geometric and organic shapes. Manola established her business in 2018, selling her creations for five years at Espacio Colaborativo Nalca in Santiago de Chile and is now located in London.
