Medium Ripple Gold Ring
Studying the movement of water on the tide, Emily began by moulding a series of miniature wax forms, all undulating with rivulets and channels, these were to evolve into the collection titled 'Ripple'. Each ring is thoughtfully finished with a tumbled, sea-worn character to reflect its ocean origins. This is a lifetime ring that would make a beautiful and individual alternative to a standard wedding band. Created in Cornwall by Emily and cast in 18ct recycled, refined yellow gold using the traditional lost wax process.
Ring width 3.5mm-4.5mm, ring size R, please get in touch regarding resizing.
The Designer
Emily Nixon's work is greatly shaped by living in West Cornwall. Beach finds are tools in the process of her making. "I love the fabric-like twists and folds of seaweed; the diversity in the contours of pebbles; the weathered character of flotsam I see washed up along the shore. This dichotomy of the precious and the organic – special stones encircled by sea-worn fragments of gold – characterises so much of my inspiration. At the heart of my work remains the sculpture and tapestry of my early fine art practice."
