Hand carved 9ct yellow gold whirlpool ring with an Ancient17 opal with 8 small white diamonds. The detailed swirls of gold are reminiscent of swirling waves or even the texture of wood. This fairytale ring sits flat along the finger and is comfortable to wear, with hidden engravings on the underside.

Opal, the birthstone of October, represents confidence, faith, and hope. People who have it as their birthstone have a certain magnetism, which helps them make friends very easily. Opals were considered among the most magical of gemstones. Because of their highly desirable play of colours and stunning natural attributes, the opal was highly valued and coveted, and used to be considered the stone of kings. It is also the stone given to celebrate 14 years of marriage.

The Designer

Georgina Hopkin is a jewellery designer and maker who graduated from Central Saint Martins with a first class BA honours degree in Jewellery Design. Her love of jewellery began where she found it to be the perfect combination making 3D objects in product design, and working on the body in fashion design. The jewellery Georgina creates is very driven by material exploration, and the combination of hard and soft materials. Georgina likes to play with the idea of interaction and engaging with the jewellery, and takes a playful and humorous approach to her autonomous, wearable artwork.
