DUALITY Jali Chandelier Earrings by Lucy Martin
Inspired by Indian architectural latticework, these earrings are a perfectly balanced mismatched pair. Featuring rhodolite garnet, tanzanite, pink tourmaline & iolite in oxidised sterling silver and 18ct yellow gold these chandelier earrings are impactful but light and comfortable to wear. Drop length: Approx 4.5cm
"Signature themes of layered contrast and balanced asymmetry speak to the theme of Duality, using both metal and gemstone to convey the idea of harmonious difference. Thoughtfully mismatched, each pair of earrings combines fluid wirework threaded with glittering gems in tonal sequences of colour."
The Designer
Lucy Martin is a fine jewellery designer whose fundamentals of her jewellery are colour, contrast and construction. She specialises in coloured gemstones which allows her to create with a very broad colour palette and to introduce layers of contrast, combining soft shimmering moonstones with bright sparkling sapphires and tourmalines.
Much of Lucy's metalwork uses soft matte or satin finishes which really show off the colour of the stones. Using different metals for different elements helps to create a balanced asymmetry that is a signature of her work. Everything is constructed by hand in a very traditional way. Despite using very simple tools and ancient techniques, Lucy likes to create a very sleek look by concealing the connection and fixings wherever possible.
