This August, our front window showcase featured our talented team member Bryony Wong's stunning new jewellery collection inspired by Ikebana, a Japanese flower arranging style.
Unlike casual flower arranging, Ikebana emphasises minimalism, precise placement, and the natural flow of lines, space, and form.
The backdrop of the showcase features a printed image of the shadow of a tree outside Bryony's window at home. This created a canvas for a huge shadow-like film always playing but changing shape with the seasons. Bryony wanted to convey the calm she felt when watching these dancing shadows. To further evoke a feeling of comfort, Bryony placed into the window a curio shelf filled with her jewellery as well as vessels and objects from home to feel almost like peering into someone’s window as you pass on the street. Keeping everything else stripped back allowed the vibrancy of the gemstones and flowers to pop. Bryony spent time with Ikebana master Junko Popham a few years ago, and found these ideas - which emphasise minimalism, understated elegance and listening to the materials - to echo the ethos of her work.
